I love fairy tales and have a large  collection of them. I collect them in both complete works of by the author and also in the children illustrated book form.  So far I have the complete works of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimms (the Grimms Brothers), Hans Christen Andersen, and Charles Perrault. I also have all twelve of Andrew Lang's colored fairy books (in order, Blue, Red, Green, Yellow, Pink, Gray, Violet, Crimson, Brown, Orange, Olive, and Lilac). I also have Several collections of different authors all mixed up. Many of the tales in those books are not in the others.

I am looking for copies of complete works by the following authors:  Madame Beaumont (she did Beauty and the Beast),  the Countess d'Aulnoy (The White Cat, The Blue Bird), a COMPLETE unabridged copy of the Arabian Nights  and  Asbjørnsen & Moe (East of the Sun, West of the Moon, Billy Goats Gruff). If you know where I can find them PLEASE tell me.

I have collected  a few of my very most favorite fairy tales and put them up online for others to read and enjoy. Some are rather well known and others not. I tracked down the  most compete and original versions of each one that I could find. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I do.

The White Cat
by The Countess d'Aulnoy

An aging king is afraid his three sons will fight over his throne. He sends them on three quests. This story follows the youngest son as he tries to fulfill them. On the first quest he finds a mysterious castle that is ruled by a white cat. She  helps him fulfill his quest in rather unusual ways.
Beauty and the Beast
 by Madame Beaumont

Unlike many of my tales here this is a rather well know one. Daughter asks father to bring her a rose back. The only one he could find was in the garden of a castle belonging to a beast who demands that he bring Beauty to live with him for payment.

King Thrushbeard
by the Brothers Grimm

This pretty tale by the Grimm's brothers is an old favorite of mine. A spoiled and vain princess make fun of and turns down every offer for her hand. The frustrated King declares that the next man who come to the castle will marry her. And who should come but a beggar. They are married and the princess learns a few lessons and gets a surprise in the end.

The Six Swans
 by the Brothers Grimm

This is a lovely tale about an evil witch, a lovely princess and her six devoted brothers, who got turned into swans. And how the sister goes about returning them to normal.

Rapunzel
by the Brothers Grimm

Another well know story. Witch takes child and raises her in tower. Prince finds her climbs hair, they fall in love. You know the story but read it again any ways.

East of the Sun, West of the Moon
by Asbjørnsen & Moe

Another one of my extreme favorite tales but still not all that well know. It's a cross between Beauty and the Beast and the Psyche and Eros tale from Greek mythology. Very Pretty.

Sleeping Beauty
by Charles Perrault

The classic tale as you know it BUT with the little known extra ending to it. Father makes fairy mad, Curses daughter, Pricks finger, Sleeps for 100 years, woken up by prince's kiss.

Cinderella
By Charles Perrault

Again the classic tale as most know it. Downtrodden stepdaughter finds true love with the help of a fairy godmother. I have the Perrault version here, the Grimm's version is, quite different.

Snow White
By the Brothers Grimm

Like Sleeping Beauty there is more to this tale then most know. Please read to find out what you've been missing all this time.

All Fur
By the Brothers Grimm

A Pretty tale if a bit on the weird side, King's wife dies after making the king swear to marry again but only it the woman is a beautiful as she. King finds that no one but his daughter matches her beauty, to keep from having to marry her father the Princess asks for some impossible gifts and the takes off on her own with them. Finds true love and the king see the error of his ways.

The King Of Peacocks
By the Countess d'Aulnoy

Another of one of my favorites. This one's kinda hard to sum up (lots of plot twists in other words) so just read it. Trust me, you'll like it

The Little Mermaid
By Hans Christian Andersen

NOT the happily ever after Disney version, this is the real tale as Andersen wrote it, Sad ending and all that

The Snow Queen
by Hans Christian Andersen

1               2              3
Andersen's Longest and one of his best tales, a quest of sorts young girl tries to clam her friend from the clutches of the Snow Queen. Had to put this tale in three parts because of the length. The grid will take you to the first part but each of the snowflakes will take you to a different part in order from left to right.

The Nightingale
by Hans Christian Andersen

In my opinion his best, I love this tale by Andersen, Small bird teaches mighty Emperor a few lessons on life and love.

The Twelve Dancing Princesses
By the Brothers Grimm

Pretty tale by the Grimms Brothers, The King's daughters are wearing out there dancing slippers every night and the king makes a challenge saying that who ever figures out how they are doing it shall get to marry one of his daughters.

Aladdin
From The Arabian Nights

Bit Different from the Disney version. There are TWO genies in the original tale. One of the lamp the other of the ring.

The Blue Bird
By The Countess d'Aulnoy

A Pretty quest tale only this time the princess is the one on the quest for her enchanted love. The Blue bird.
(BIGHUGE THANK YOUS, go to Wren of the Ladies of the Myst for ending my five eyar quest for this tale))

Thumblina
by Hans Christian Andersen

The story of a tiny girl no bigger then your thumb and the adventures she has after being kidnapped by some frogs. One of Andersen's best know works

Puss In Boots
by Charles Perrault

A poor farmer wins the hand of a princess and his own kingdom with the help of his inheritance from his father ..a clever cat who wears boots.

Mother Holle
By the Brothers Grimm

An unusual tale by the Grimms brothers about what happens if you act nice for being nice and act nice in order to get something.

Little Red Rideinghood
By the Brothers Grimm

The well know tell about the little girl with the red hood. There are really two version of this, the Grimm's one with the happy ending that everyone knows best (where she is called Little Red cap) and Perrault's version, in which she just gets, eaten, I obviously have the Grimm's version here.

The Frog Prince
by Hans Christian Andersen

Classic tale about a spoiled princess who learns the vale of friendship, and of keeping her word.

Hansel and Gretel
By the Brothers Grimm

Lost siblings find a house of gingerbread in the woods. Meet a witch. you all know the tale already, just go read it again.

The Princess and the Pea
by Hans Christian Andersen

A Prince and his family learn that  there is more to  a person then just how they look. Mr. Andersen used a bit different style of writing this one. Little more, flippent, I rather like it.

Snow White, Rose Red
By the Brothers Grimm

Two sisters learn meet up with a dwarf, and a prince in disguise. Very pretty tail about the value of helping others.
